Digipak illustrations

These are the illustrations that I drew up for the digipak. Using a graphics tablet to draw the illustrations for our digipak made it a lot easier to get the cartoon feel and using photoshop, Jamie edited it and changed the colours etc for the digipak.

Location Shots

On Wednesday the 25th of January, I went to Richmond Park to take some shots for our location. The weather loved to be difficult whilst trying to take the photos. It was very cloudy and beginning to get dark earless it was hard to focus on what I wanted to take pictures of, forest and trees etc but getting the colours in like the greens and oranges.

I am planning on going to take some clearer photos however, from now (30th Jan) up until Wednesday the 8th of February, the weather says that its raining which means I will have to wait until there is some sun to go and take more photos.

Storyboard

Here is the storyboard that I drew up to give visual understanding on how we wanted our music video to look, what shots to use and how to be creative with putting them together.

Location shot and digipak photos

Plan for shooting location and digipak photos

I have originally planned to go to Richmond Park tomorrow (Wednesday the 25th) to take location and digipak photos, we found that Richmond Park is good for the location as it is very green and surrounded by trees. As you can see, our plan was to fill the digipak with landscape shots of forests, we didn't think that the location photos would be good enough for the digipak so we decided that as I am going on a walking holiday in the Lake District around Windermere, Buttermere and Ennerdale in half term, that I could take the shots for our digipak and use them instead of our location shots.

Plan for digipak photos

Digipak photos

As a group we have decided to use the location photos that we will take in Richmond for the panels of the Digipak so that we get two jobs done in one trip to make things easier. We have to make sure that the weather is good and the photos are good quality to be on the panels so we will take a DSLR Camera.

Background of our Artists

For the background of our artists we were thinking to have 3 people in the band, 2 male and 1 female. The first man will play the guitar and sing with the female and the other man with play the drums in the back.

Ideas for our story:

- Icelandic or Norwegian members
- Best friends since primary school and play pretended bands and fake concerts with their parents
- They started becoming serious with music at the age of 13 when (girl) discovered she was talented with singing and (drummer boy) had been playing drums since he was 7 so he was talented and (guitar and singer boy) started playing guitar a year before when they were 12 but had never sung in his life until the idea of forming a band became an idea when they were half way through A levels
- They started by performing covers of songs in pubs in front of close fiends and families for 2 years until someone who attended one of the gigs asked them to perform at their wedding in 2007 in Finland. It was the first time (girl) and (drummer) had been out of Iceland/Norway, (guitarist)'s mother lived in Germany who he visited every other weekend.
- After performing at the wedding the band was discovered by (something) records who asked if the record label could sign them.
- They got their first album released in 2009 'Lost' with their record breaker Dirty Paws. After the album was released the record label sent them on a European tour. Tickets sold out in Glasgow, Manchester, Belgium, Lille, Florence, Madrid and Helsinki. They were so popular that they went on a world tour in 2012, they went to USA, Australia and New Zealand where tickets sold out in Vancouver, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Auckland, Queensland and Victoria.

Casting for our band

These are the people we have decided to photograph to give an idea of what character we would like. For an indie band we looked for a friendly looking, quite scruffy man. Although some of the people photographed are unavailable to feature in our music video we will look for more people with these characteristics. We are searching for 3 people in total, 2 men, one who will play the drums and one who will play the guitar as well as sing with 1 female singer. For the female, who we haven't yet casted we will look for again, an indie looking girl who will be the main singer in the band.

Music Video Inspiration

The Blaze - Virile

The music video for Virile is all filmed in one location using a handheld camera.
Throughout the video, the use of the handheld camera is consistent. We liked the idea of using a handheld camera in our video during both the flashback and the present.
There is also a consistent use of 360 degree filming. We really liked this especially for the flashback as it gives a sense of the surroundings. The surroundings in the flashback of the small child we want to be quite derelict and eerie so instead of doing the 360 degree rotations with the beat we will do it slowly to really emphasise the derelict feeling.
